Mike Barnhart

Senior Staff Instructor


Prior to retiring from federal service in 2011, Mike was employed by the Federal Air Marshal Service for 9 years, serving at the FAMS Denver Field Office and the FAMS National Training Center located near Atlantic City, NJ.  Specializing in weapons systems and tactics, Mike was responsible for assisting in curriculum, policy, and standard operations procedure development; and the delivery of instruction in his topical areas of expertise in support of FAMS and FFDO training programs.  Two years prior to his retirement from the FAMS, Mike served as the National Armory Operations Officer.

Previously, Mr. Barnhart served 15 years with the National Nuclear Security Administration; a semi-autonomous agency within the U.S. Department of Energy responsible for enhancing national security through the military application of nuclear security.  Mike held various instructor, supervisory, and management positions within the Safeguards and Security community; serving at headquarters in Washington, D.C., the Office of Secure Transportation Training Center in Albuquerque, N.M., the Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site near Denver, CO., and the Nevada Test Site near Las Vegas, NV.  Mike’s primary instructional expertise being advanced weapons and tactics, he served on the agency’s National Firearms, Firearms Safety, and Special Response Team Committees for multiple years.

Mr. Barnhart is a Viet Nam veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1965 to 1977; touring with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rdMarine Corps Divisions, and the 3rdMarine Aircraft Wing.  Mike’s military service included duties as an instructor/academic advisor at the Marine Corps Officer Candidate School, Staff Non-Commissioned Officer’s Academies at Quantico, VA and MCB Camp Lejeune, N.C., and the School of Infantry.  He held both enlisted and commissioned-officer ranks (Honor Graduate from The Basic School); command positions at the platoon and company levels, and staff positions at the battalion and division levels.

Since 2000, Mike has served PFC as an instructor and manager on all levels specializing in firearms and tactics training, logistics, and curriculum advisory.  His experience, knowledge and industry expertise has contributed a whole other dimension to the PFC Group of Companies as they have formed and grown over the years.  Mike is currently a Senior Advisor for Training and Load Out assigned to PFC Headquarters in Las Vegas, NV.
