Course Overview

Protective Pistol Skills is the weapons-centric component of PSOC and is entirely range-based. This format allows students to focus their attention on safe and practical use of a concealed handgun during protective operations. Students will learn both individual and team-based tactics with firearms as they apply to third-person/principal defense. Training includes combative handgun skills applicable to personal security, Principal Cover & Control Techniques, Lone Agent Protective Shooting (LAPS) Drills, Detail Assault Response & Evacuation (DARE) Drills, and the PSOC/PPS Live Fire Skills Test.

 

Enrollment: Open to active security professionals, law enforcement, Department of Defense, government agencies, eligible government contractors, and approved civilians with a security industry affiliation.

 

Pre-requisite: Approved prior commercial or occupational handgun training.

The PFC staff will take attendance and organize a group movement to range approximately 15 minutes away. Group will depart this location prior to 8:15am. If you will not arrive at the meeting point by 8:15am or want to drive directly to the range, follow the map link provided.

Student Equipment

Standard range attire (weather-appropriate active wear, sturdy shoes, etc.).
3x5 notebook w/ pen for note-taking on the range.
Semi-automatic handgun w/ at least 3 magazines.
500 rounds of handgun ammunition.
Strong-side belt or paddle concealment holster **
Support-side concealment magazine carrier(s).
Belt for range work compatible w/ holster and magazine carrier.
Concealment garment (if desired).
Hearing protection and Eye protection for day and night conditions.
Hat with brim.
** Blackhawk Serpa model holsters are strictly prohibited during live fire range training and banned in all PFC Training classes for safety reasons. For copies of PFC’s and the Federal Government’s policies regarding the use of Blackhawk Serpa holsters, contact PFC HQ.

Dining

Breaks will be offered throughout the class. Bring sufficient water and snacks for consumption during these breaks.
