Active Violence Event Response Tactics (AVERT)

Course Details

The Active Violence Event Response Tactics Course is a 2-day training event designed to impart the core principles, tactics, techniques, and procedures involved in locating and closing with armed adversaries within common structures.  During classroom instruction, students will learn about the dynamics of Active Violence scenarios, crisis response, and on-scene actions, tactical priorities, and case studies.  Using conventional and modern tactics during the practical application, environmental tactical problems addressed by participants will include corners, common rooms, open and closed-door entries, confined spaces, hallways, stairs, T-intersections, opposing doorways, close quarters confrontations, and much more.  Students will also receive instruction on multi-point entries, noise/flash diversionary device deployment, mechanical breaching, low-light operations, and rapid deployment concepts.  Ultimately, students will develop solutions for actively responding to an adversary who poses an immediate threat by a firearm or other deadly weapon.  All training will consist of hands-on technical drilling with firearm simulators allowing participants to practice instructed skill-sets throughout the day with little to no downtime.
