SUMMARY:Academy of Protective Studies: Protective Pistol Skills (PPS) - Fredericksburg\, VA
DESCRIPTION:Protective Pistol Skills (PPS) is the entirely range-based weapons-centric component of PFC’s nationally recognized Protective Security Operations Certification (PSOC*). PPS allows students to focus on a concealed handgun’s safe and practical use during protective operations.  \nTraining includes: \n\nCombative handgun skills applicable to personal security\nPrincipal Cover & Control Techniques\nLone Agent Protective Shooting (LAPS) Drills\nDetail Assault Response & Evacuation (DARE) Drills\nThe PSOC/PPS Live Fire Skills Test***\n\nStudents will learn both individual and team-based tactics with firearms as they apply to third-person/principal defense.  \n  \n*Protection Agent Development (PAD) and Protective Pistol Skills (PPS) comprise the PSOC curriculum.  \n  \n*** Please note the following critical information regarding Protective Pistol Skills (PPS):\nPPS is an advanced program\, it is NOT a “how to shoot course.” All students must have a solid base of combative level handgun skills upon arrival. \n  \nThese skills include but are not limited to: \n1. Presenting the firearm safely from concealment\n2. Engage multiple areas on the body to include headshots from intermediate distances\n3. Accurately shoot one-handed\n4. Operate on a fluid/dynamic range\n5. Safely operate in close proximity to others \n  \nThose who arrive without the requisite skill level run a high risk of removal from training for cause and a higher level of failing to pass the live-fire skills test. The pace of the program will be subjective\, based upon PFC protocols and group aptitude. Students must maintain a safe pace with their peers. It is critical that students bring ALL items of prescribed equipment to the program. This includes concealment holster (trigger finger actuated/SERPAs are forbidden)\, concealment garment(s)\, support equipment\, quality ammunition\, etc. A full equipment list will be provided upon registration. \n  \nNumerous students in the past have found themselves in the unenviable position of prematurely registering for PPS when they truly need a foundational course in a PFC progressive handgun course. PFC retains final judgment on ALL training and safety matters. \n  \nEnrollment: Open to active security professionals\, law enforcement\, Department of Defense\, government agencies\, eligible government contractors\, and approved civilians with a security industry affiliation. \n  \nPre-requisite: Approved prior commercial or occupational handgun training. \n  \nCourse Fee: $300/per student \n  \nAll applicants must be approved to register: \nPlease submit a Restricted Program Approval Request. \nA course registration link will be sent upon approval.  \n

SUMMARY:Academy of Protective Studies: Protection Agent Development (PAD) - Fredericksburg\, VA
DESCRIPTION:PFC Academy of Protective Studies Series  \nThis Protection Agent Development (PAD) training module is designed exclusively for private security\, Federal Government\, DoD\, and LE professionals interested in learning principles and procedures for modern executive protection and personal security of high net-worth or ‘at-risk’ individuals. Instruction covers contemporary methods for low visibility personal security in permissive to semi-permissive environments where a low to moderate threat exists. This highly academic and practical application-based training module creates a comprehensive and balanced foundation for prospective or current members of protective details. The subject matter comprises the most progressive and relevant doctrine currently available for individuals seeking instruction in modern EP practices. The primary goal of PAD is to professionally educate and train those tasked with protective operations. Regardless of background or current assignment\, students are trained to operate as a team. It is critical that protection agents exhibit professionalism\, demonstrate fluid proficiency\, and act with confidence in their abilities. To achieve and enforce this\, students are held to a high standard and expected to perform. This is a certification program component and various forms of testing and evaluation are utilized to measure the requisite knowledge\, skills\, and abilities for graduation. \n  \nPre-requisite: None. \n  \nEnrollment: Open to active security professionals\, law enforcement\, Department of Defense\, government agencies\, eligible government contractors\, and approved civilians with a security industry affiliation. \n  \nCourse Fee: $1495/per student \n  \nAll applicants must be approved to register: \nPlease submit a Restricted Program Approval Request. \nA course registration link will be sent upon approval.  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Combative Concealed Handgun (CCH)
DESCRIPTION:Despite the proliferation of concealed carry weapon licenses issued for responsible citizens or security professionals\, none of these programs teach or train the end-user Combative Concealed Handgun (CCH) to work with and from a covered weapon. Also\, off-duty or plainclothes law enforcement officers do not receive adequate training from their agencies when it comes to carrying and drawing their concealed weapons. This one-day program is designed to teach the necessary skills to safely carry and dynamically present a handgun from concealment during use-of-force encounters. Students will be taught different techniques for deploying their handgun from a variety of concealed carry methods and positions. Topics covered will include wardrobe selection and modification\, support equipment\, legal considerations\, use of force doctrine\, methods of concealment and deployment\, progressive handgun skills\, intensive concealed weapon drilling\, and unconventional tactics for accessing and fighting with a concealed handgun. This course is a must for any responsible concealed weapon carrier. \n  \nPre-requisite: None \n  \nEnrollment: Open \n

SUMMARY:Protective Security Operations Certification (PSOC) - UNLV
DESCRIPTION:PSOC is designed exclusively for private security\, Federal Government\, DoD\, and law enforcement professionals interested in learning modern methods for executive protection and personal security of high net-worth or ‘at-risk’ individuals. This five-day certification program is approved for training by multiple Federal Government\, state\, and corporate organizations\, and is the only major university accredited protective services training program in the United States. \n  \nPSOC consists of (2) two training modules: Protection Agent Development (four days) and Protective Pistol Skills (one day). \n  \nProtection Agent Development (PAD) teaches contemporary skills for low visibility personal security in permissive to semi-permissive environments where a low to moderate threat exists. This highly academic and practical application-based training course creates a comprehensive and balanced foundation for prospective or current members of protective details. The subject matter comprises the most progressive and relevant doctrine currently available for individuals seeking instruction in new EP practices. \n  \nProtective Pistol Skills (PPS) is the weapons-centric component of PSOC and is entirely range-based. This format allows students to focus their attention on the safe and practical use of a concealed handgun during protective operations. Students will learn both individual and team-based tactics with firearms as they apply to third-person/principal defense. \n  \nThe primary goal of PSOC is to professionally educate and train those tasked with protective operations. Regardless of background or current assignment\, students are trained to operate as a team. It is critical that protection agents exhibit professionalism\, demonstrate fluid proficiency\, and act with confidence in their abilities. To achieve and enforce this\, students are held to a high standard and expected to perform during training. This is a certification course where various forms of testing and evaluation are utilized to measure the requisite knowledge\, skills\, and abilities for graduation. Attendance does not guarantee completion. Protection Agent Development (Module 1) and Protective Pistol Skills (Module 2) may be taken separately if desired. However\, both modules must be successfully completed within a 12-month period in order to earn the full PSOC certificate. \n  \nPre-requisite: None. \n  \nEnrollment: Open to active security professionals\, law enforcement\, Department of Defense\, government agencies\, eligible government contractors\, and approved civilians with a security industry affiliation. \n  \nAll applicants must be approved to register: \nPlease submit a Restricted Program Approval Request \nA course registration link will be sent upon approval.  \n  \nCommercial Cost: $1\,795.00 \n  \nGSA Cost: $1\,316.00
