Police Firearms Instructor Certification (PFIC)
Course Details
PFC’s PFIC is a 5-day course designed to impart the core doctrine of a fundamental handgun, shotgun, and rifle instruction to already proficient officers currently tasked with training others. PFIC exemplifies the core of evolutionary PFC doctrine with a curriculum that requires more than any other state, local, military or federal firearms certification. Students must successfully pass 6 examinations scoring no lower than 100% on 1 and no lower than 90% on the remaining 5. Topics covered include firearms safety, instructor development, risk analysis, remediation, development of live fire evolutions, as well as progressive operation of the handgun, carbine and shotgun weapon systems under frictional conditions. Testing and evaluations consist of a comprehensive written exam, dry Limited Scope Performance Test (LSPT), Live Fire Skills Test (LFST), Firearms Competency Protocols, classroom presentation, student-led live fire evolution, and construction of a hazard-mitigating Risk Analysis Tool. Graduates will be able to safely instruct students in law enforcement firearms fundamentals as well as develop and run essential live fire evolutions. NOTE: PFIC is not a “how to shoot” course, and as such, students who lack solid skills upon arrival stand a very low chance of successfully passing the Live Fire Skills Test, which will only be administered a maximum of four times. This training, as well as other PFC programs, has been directly credited with saving lives and ending confrontations in compressed timeframes with the minimal amount of force necessary.
